What the Vitamin D3 injection actually does.

The Overview

Vitamin D3 is one of the most under-replenished nutrients in adults, particularly in patients who spend most of their time indoors or in northern latitudes. It supports bone health, immune function, mood regulation, and hormonal balance. Unlike B12, the D3 injection is a depot shot that lasts two to four weeks per dose, so the cadence is lower and the bundles last longer.

What’s Inside

Every ingredient, on the table.

Cholecalciferol (D3)
The form of Vitamin D your skin produces from sunlight, and the form your body uses most efficiently. We dose at clinical-grade therapeutic levels, well above what is achievable through diet or oral supplementation alone.
Lipid Carrier
A small volume of safe, FDA-approved oil-based carrier that allows the D3 to release slowly over two to four weeks (the depot effect).

Good To Know

A few honest notes about this injection.

The Vitamin D3 injection is generally well tolerated. Most patients experience nothing more than a brief pinch and a small amount of redness or tenderness at the injection site, which resolves within twenty-four hours.

Vitamin and mineral therapies are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment of an underlying medical condition. If you have a chronic illness, are pregnant or nursing, or take prescription medications, your clinician will review whether this injection is appropriate for you and may recommend lab work first.

Individual results vary. We will help you set realistic expectations at your first visit and recommend the right cadence based on your goals.

Common Questions

What patients ask about Vitamin D3.

Oral D3 has to pass through the digestive system, where absorption is variable, especially in patients with gut issues or on certain medications. The injection bypasses digestion entirely, delivering a higher, more consistent dose directly to your tissue. The depot formulation also means one injection lasts two to four weeks, versus daily oral dosing.
We recommend it. A serum 25-OH Vitamin D test (sometimes called 25-hydroxyvitamin D) is the standard measure of Vitamin D status. If you have results from your primary provider within the last three months, those count. Otherwise, we can order labs through a partner lab near you. We do not require labs for a single injection, but we strongly recommend them before starting a bundle.
The depot formulation lasts two to four weeks per shot, so monthly cadence works for most patients. Patients with severe deficiency may benefit from a more aggressive front-loaded schedule (every two weeks for the first two months, then monthly for maintenance). Your clinician will advise based on your labs.
Talk to your clinician first. Combining injectable D3 with high-dose oral supplementation can push your levels above the safe range. If you are already on a daily oral D3 protocol, we may recommend reducing or pausing it during the injection program.
Most patients notice subtle improvements in mood, energy, and sleep within four to six weeks. The bigger story shows up on follow-up labs, where 25-OH D levels typically move from deficient (below 30 ng/mL) into the optimal range (50 to 80 ng/mL) over two to three months of treatment.
Most patients describe it as a brief pinch followed by a mild ache that fades within minutes. The lipid carrier can cause a slight pressure sensation as it absorbs. Some patients have minor redness or tenderness at the site for up to twenty-four hours.
We ask for at least twenty-four hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a $50 fee. Things come up, we understand, just give us as much notice as you can.
